C61 are tender type locomotive for main route and local express trains.
They was manufactured 33 locomotive by Japan National railway(J.N.R) in 1948-1949.
After WW II , Locomotive was ran short about for express trains. JNR was converted from D51.

C61 was installed automatic carries coal system.Then driver decreased from the hard work. (But its uninstalled now)

Now 2 locomotive live in Japan.

He live now.UMEKOUJI has operation for exhibition 3 time a every day. But C61-2, D51-200, and 8600 change operation every other month

His home is TAKASAKI. He has scheduled train "SL MINAKAMI" , "SL USUI" and special train with in JR east japan line.
